ABOUT ANNEXLIVING
Helping families check what could work before they spend
AnnexLiving was created to help UK families understand whether a static caravan or lodge could realistically work as garden annex accommodation on private land. The aim is to give families a practical, planning-aware first step before they commit to a unit, spend money, or assume something will be straightforward when it may need proper checking.
- UK garden annex guidance
- Planning-aware advice
- Static caravan & lodge options
- Access and delivery checks
- No-obligation assessment
Backed by over 26 years of static caravan and lodge experience
AnnexLiving was founded by Russell Marchant, who has worked in the static caravan and lodge industry for over 26 years.
Russell started his career as a salesperson on a small holiday park before progressing into sales management, running sales operations on parks and training sales teams to a high standard.
Throughout that time, the most important part of the job has always been honesty: listening properly, understanding the customer's requirements, and helping them make the right decision rather than simply pushing them towards something that may not suit their needs.
For the last 11 years, Russell has worked as an area manager for a family-run multi-franchise dealership. His role has involved supporting customer enquiries, helping order the correct models, liaising with transport companies, working with siting teams, and helping bring the practical parts of the process together.
Why AnnexLiving exists
Many families start with a simple question: could Mum, Dad, a relative or an adult child live closer to home?
The answer is rarely just about choosing a unit. A static caravan or lodge may look right online, but it still needs to suit the garden, access route, intended use, specification, budget, services, delivery method and planning context.
AnnexLiving exists to help families think through those points early, before spending money on the wrong option.
Suitability first, sales second
AnnexLiving is built around a suitability-first approach.
That means we do not start by pushing a particular static caravan or lodge. We start by asking whether your garden, access, intended use, services, budget and timeframe make the idea realistic.
Sometimes the answer may be that a garden annex is unlikely to be suitable. Access may be too restricted, services may be too far away, the garden may be too small, or the intended use may raise separate-dwelling concerns.
If that is the case, we would rather give a realistic steer early than encourage a family to spend money on something that may not work.
What AnnexLiving can help you consider
A garden annex project touches a lot of practical questions. AnnexLiving helps families think through the ones that come up most often:
- Whether a static caravan or lodge may suit your garden
- Access and delivery constraints
- Base, services and drainage considerations
- Static caravan versus lodge suitability
- Elderly parent, relative or adult-child use cases
- Budget and specification expectations
- Practical next steps before committing to a unit
What AnnexLiving cannot promise
AnnexLiving does not guarantee planning permission, provide legal advice, or replace advice from your local planning authority or a qualified planning consultant.
A garden annex is also not a substitute for professional care where significant care needs are involved.
Our role is to provide a practical, planning-aware first step so families can make better-informed decisions before they spend money.

Check what could work before you spend
If you are considering a static caravan or lodge as garden annex accommodation, the best first step is to check whether the idea is realistic for your site, access, intended use and budget.
